We have consistently proven their dedication to investing in the future of the industry by employing apprentices. In 2018, we hired three new apprentices, with two training in all testing departments, and one working towards an NVQ in Business Administration.
The apprentices can look forward to a career with the company after completing their training. Several members of Wintech full time staff began their career in the same way, including Technical Director, Mike Wass who started as an apprentice in the test laboratory 17 years ago.
Starting his career in the same place as Mike, is our Laboratory Technician apprentice, Sam Ward. Working in his last year as an apprentice, he’s become an important part of our window & door testing department. His day-to-day duties involve anything from assisting in the testing of customer’s products in accordance with PAS 24:2016, to filling out the test reports.
Our Managing Director, Gailord Nepp says “Education is important, and Wintech believes in investing in its staff to ensure they’re confident in their role. Our apprentices work on a rotation basis, in every department of the organisation – from testing Windows & Doors to PAS 24, to writing up reports and other administrative tasks, as well as testing at our state-of-the-art curtain wall and façade facility and working with our onsite department on projects around the country. Our aim is to ensure our apprentices know every aspect of Wintech, to not only secure their future, but to secure the future of Wintech too”.
